Even if WhatsApp is initially a messaging application, it does function here in Rwanda as a space where users send not only text messages but also images, GIF, videos, documents, user location, audio files, phone contacts and voice notes.


Therefore, keeping up with these, especially in group chat, can be like reading through a Twitter feed or Facebook News Feed, where users choose to dip in and out. Yet, on WhatsApp, you can’t develop a following and views but gaining that exposure is invaluable. Moreover, if users come across your content on another social platform, they could be inclined to like/follow your business page.
